چکیده

EB is a prototypic and heterogeneous group of inherited bullous disorders characterized by detachment the epithelium following minimal mechanical trauma. The phenotypic spectrum broad, with persistent blistering, inflammation, delayed re-epithelialization, dysfunctional wound healing often infection, leading to disability and, in most severe cases, death. classified into four subtypes: simplex (EBS), junctional (JEB), dystrophic (DEB), Kindler (KEB). Skin provides protective barrier from thermal, mechanical, physical Its microbiome, pH, structural thermoregulatory properties, resident immune cell population contribute making skin an active organ system. In health human microbiome has adapted produce molecules that inhibit colonization pathogenic microorganisms. We hypothesize patients broken down, balance between commensal microorganisms hence altered. used whole-genome sequencing characterize blisters adjacent healthy patients. Metagenomic sequence data were processed through MG-RAST pipeline. explored shifts health- disease-associated three groups (EBS, JEB, DEB). observed higher relative abundance Bacillales associated people affected EBS. addition, blister sampled 48 hours after formation exhibited Staphylococci DEB. These may healing, deeper understanding present opportunities for improved intervention.

Purified type I collagen wound matrix improves chronic wound healing in patients with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa.

Recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa is a severe genetic blistering skin condition resulting in chronic wounds. Nonhealing wounds were treated over 8 weeks using a reconstituted natural purified type I collagen skin substitute. Chronic wounds were defined as nonhealing wounds present for longer than 6 months. For each patient, two chronic wounds were identified and randomized into a contr...
